The Movement
Survivors 4 Justice Reform (S4JR) is a global, survivor-led coalition dedicated to transforming how society responds to sexual violence, domestic abuse, and human trafficking.
Core Focus Areas
- Shifting the Paradigm: Moving away from punitive, carceral legal processes that frequently re-traumatize victims toward trauma-informed, survivor-centered responses.
- Restorative & Transformative Justice: Advocating for non-carceral alternatives centered on active accountability, healing, and community repair rather than retribution alone.
- Policy & Public Education: Utilizing grassroots organizing, survivor storytelling, and legislative advocacy to reshape public narratives around harm and build safer, more compassionate communities.
Our Founder
Marlee Liss is a survivor advocate, award-winning speaker, somatic educator, and social worker. She set a historic legal precedent in North America when her sexual assault case concluded through a court-facilitated restorative justice process focused on accountability and healing rather than a traditional criminal trial.
Inspired by her personal journey, she founded Survivors 4 Justice Reform to empower survivors and advocate for trauma-informed, restorative justice practices. She is also an international keynote speaker and the author of Re-Humanize.
Our Virginia Rep
Faatimah Muwahhid serves as the Virginia State Representative, leading statewide efforts to transform the Commonwealth’s approach to justice and community healing. As a dedicated contract administrator, consultant, and survivor advocate, she champions trauma-informed policy, survivor autonomy, and restorative frameworks that center active accountability over retribution. Through legislative outreach, coalition-building, and public education, Faatimah is helping build a safer, more compassionate Virginia.
